Learn How the Tax System Works

Knowledge is power, lack of knowledge is slavery

I have been involved with financial planning and taxes for over thirty years. During that time, I have watched many tax deductions of the American citizen eliminated one by one. Many writeoffs for real estate, itemized deductions, and business deductions have been seriously curtailed or cut altogether. Capital gains deduction and investment tax credits have become political footballs. No wonder so many jokes and cartoons are devoted to scenes of taxpayers pulling out their hair in frustration as they realize last year’s deduction is nothing but a fond memory and they must write a check to the IRS to cover the difference.

Although many deductions have evaporated, this book brings good news for the home-based
business owner. Most of the surviving tax breaks are of great benefit to those who operate their own business from their home.

My home-based business involvement began in 1980 when I merged my financial planning and network marketing experience. It quickly became evident to me that a concise, clearly written tax book would be of immense benefit to those who had decided to, or were thinking about starting their own business, be it full or part-time.

I sincerely believe reading this book and absorbing the ideas you find throughout will generate a tremendous amount of excitement at the prospect of being self-employed. A home-based business, when run properly, has the potential to increase abundance in your life – both monetary and pleasant in nature.

That said, let me remind you - it is our duty as American citizens to pay our fair share of our
country's taxes. However, it is not our duty to pay more than our fair share.
